Yoga

“Yoga is a benevolent friend that is always there to greet you with a smile. Practice is a journey to our inner self. I hope you enjoy this journey and find the fruits of the Yoga Tree to be sweet and nourishing to your mind, body and soul.”

The survival of the most sensitive. Looking in for number one. Living the journey. Growing along the way. This is the way of yoga.

Yoga is the answer to just about everything. Whether it is anxiety, depression, stress, weight loss, flexibility or strength, Yoga will help!

Yoga is many things to many different people: it can be a type of exercise, a way to reduce and manage stress, a modality to heal an injury, or a way of life. Many individuals come to find Yoga because they are looking for a different type of workout—one that will challenge the body physically, but in a way that is non-injurious. And Yoga is a wonderful and safe way to exercise, especially if you are recovering from an injury, or dealing with challenges such as lower back, knee or neck pain.

But Yoga is also a lot more than just a great workout.

Yoga means “union”, and its most fundamental aim is exactly that: to unite the body, breath, and mind. Through a series of poses (called “asanas”) and using special breathing awareness and techniques (called “pranayama”), you will experience both strengthening and stretching in the muscles, a freeing in the joints, and relaxation both at the physical and mental levels.

We invite you to come and practice Yoga whatever your reasons, to play and explore, and to be open to all the benefits that Yoga may bring into your life.

There are many different styles of yoga, including Hatha, Power, Ashtanga, Kundalini, and Iyengar. The best way to understand what Yoga is about and what it means is to attend a class and try it out for yourself. Yoga affects everyone differently and starting a yoga class can be a bit intimidating. Here are some recommendations to beginning your Yoga journey…

For your first classes it is recommended that you take it easy and allow yourself the immense freedom of being a beginner. We highly recommend that you begin your yoga practice with ADDICTED TO YOGA’S FIRST CLASS FREE Beginning Yoga Class or Level 1 Classes. In this special beginning atmosphere, you will learn the most basic and fundamentally important aspects of yoga. This class will cover sun salutations and yogic breathing, standing poses and balancing postures, gentle twists and beginning inversions.

“Yoga is 99% Practice, 1% Theory.”
~ Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, founder of Ashtanga Yoga
